  • Can we bring confetti?
    Yes, however our venue only permits dried flower petals confetti. To make it easy, we will be providing dried flower petal confetti for our guests which can be found on arrival.
  • Is there a bar on site?
    There will be a fully stocked bar during the evening which accepts both cash & card payments. Guests under 18 will not be served alcohol, non-alcoholic substitute will be available. Staff are trained to follow the ‘Challenge 25’ procedure and may request identification if anyone looks under the age of 25. Please do not be offended if you are asked for identification. Hockwold Hall Management reserve the right not to serve anyone who they deem should not be allowed to continue consuming or remain on the premises.
  • Is there a dress code?
    Dress to impress! We're celebrating our special day in style, and we'd love for our guests to join us looking fabulous and ready to party!
  • Is there an after party?
    The official reception may end at midnight, but the fun doesn't have to! Head downstairs to the cellar bar for our wedding after-party. Bring your own drinks, enjoy some music, and let the good times roll. Don't forget, check-out is at 10am, so be sure to pace yourselves (or have your hangover cures ready!).
  • Meal Information
    Food will be served throughout the wedding day. We will be providing a wedding breakfast, and an evening menu. The menus for both will be confirmed and shared closer to the date. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please inform Gavin or Louise as soon as possible.

  • Things to do on the day
    We've chosen a venue with beautiful grounds and plenty to keep you entertained! If you find you have time between the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast, feel free to explore the gardens, relax and mingle, or enjoy the venue's games room. For animal lovers, there is also an enclosed petting area with meerkats, goats, rabbits, alpacas, and, of course, the beautiful free-roaming peacocks.
  • Weather
    Our ceremony will be held outdoors. If the British weather dictates that we should have an indoor wedding, the ceremony will take place in the Banquet Hall.
  • What time do guests need to arrive?
    We kindly ask that you don't outshine the bride by being fashionably late. Guests should arrive at 1.30PM The ceremony will begin at 2PM - please don't be late!
  • What time does it finish?
    Our big day will draw to a close at midnight (boo!). However, all is not lost! There is limited space for the 'The Cellar' after party, more details to follow soon.
  • Where do we go on arrival?
    When arriving at Hockwold Hall you will be directed through the beautiful main house to the gardens where our ceremony will take place. The ceremony will begin at 2PM so please ensure that you arrive at the venue by 1.30PM.
  • How do I check In?
    Hockwold Hall is an exclusive private hire venue and not a traditional hotel with reception. Bedroom allocation is solely managed by the bride and groom, for any questions relating to the accommodation please contact us.
  • What accommodation options are available?
    To make planning easier, we have pre-booked rooms at two locations: our beautiful wedding venue, Hockwold Hall and the newly renovated Hockwold Inn next door. Additionally, the venue offers a dedicated camping field for those who prefer a more rustic experience. ​ Rooms at both Hockwold Hall and Hockwold Inn are available on a first-come, first-served basis.   • When can we check in?
    For guests staying at Hockwold Hall or Hockwold Hall Inn, the following check in times apply. Guests arriving on Friday 22nd May (Hockwold Inn Only) Check-in at 11.30AM on Friday 22nd May 2026 Check-out at 10AM on Sunday 24th May 2026. Guests arriving on Saturday 23rd May (All Guests) Check-in at 11.30AM on Saturday 23rd May 2026 Check-out at 10AM on Sunday 24th May 2026.
  • Are children invited?
    Kindly note that only children named on the invitation are invited to attend. We appreciate your understanding.
  • Plus one's
    Plus ones will be highlighted on your formal invitation. Please ensure that you advise on your plus one details no later than 1st April 2026. If you would like to bring a plus one however this has not been indicated on your invitation, please contact either Louise or Gavin to see if this is possible.
  • When do I need to RSVP?
    We understand how busy life can get, so we want to give you plenty of time to plan. We aim to send out formal invitations by August 23rd, 2025. We kindly request that you RSVP as soon as possible after receiving your invitation via our wedding website https://www.gavandlousayido.co.uk. The final RSVP deadline is 1st April 2026
  • Accessibility
    On the ground floor, all the doors are wide enough to cater to standard and electric wheelchairs. There is a small two-inch step from the back door to the gardens, which has not posed any issues in the past. There is an alternative route via pebble walkways should the step be avoided. Most of the surrounding grounds are grass or pebbled walkways. Bedrooms are located on the second floor, there is no elevator facility at Hockwold Hall. Guests requiring additional support and ease of moving around the venue may be dropped off at the front door of the venue to avoid a few meters walk from the parking field.

  • Is the venue child friendly?
    Yes, Hockwold Hall is a safe place for families, a ‘home away from home’ with large grounds and 5 acres of walled garden for children to explore and play in. There will be several activities for children and adults to enjoy through-out our day. The venue kindly requests that: - Children remain supervised by an adult at all times. - The plants and flowers are there to be looked at, please do not allow children to play in the garden beds. - There are free-roaming wildlife and birds on the grounds, please do not chase or harm any of the animals.
  • Is smoking permitted?
    As per the legislation introduced on the 1st July, 2007, it is illegal to smoke in all public enclosed or substantially enclosed areas. As parts of the house date as far as the 1500’s, live flames pose a risk to the protection of the building’s heritage. For general safety and guest care, indoor smoking including vaping is not permitted indoors and fines will apply for breaking the law, for deep cleaning services, and any damages caused to the property. Designated smoking areas are located around the venue and plenty of mingling spaces within a few feet of the venue.
  • Parking
    Hockwold Hall has ample FREE parking located in an adjacent field, within walking distance from the entrance of the Hall. There will be directional signs at our welcome gates and towards the venue. For Guests staying at the Hockwold Hall, parking is available in the adjacent field as mentioned above. For Guests staying at the Hockwold Inn, hardstanding parking is available at the Inn for 8-10 vehicles. Guests may choose to either walk 100 meters to Hockwold Hall or drive and park in the Hall’s main field. Guests staying at St Peter’s Cottage must also park in this adjacent field and walk a few meters. Please Note: The front of the Hall is to be kept free of vehicles for both fire safety reasons, and for the grand bridal entrance ensuring lovely photo opportunities. For easier access, guests with additional needs may be dropped off at the front door and the vehicle parked in the field. Guests may leave their cars overnight. Guests who do not return to their vehicles within a 24-hour time frame will incur tow charges at their own cost. Hockwold Hall management is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen vehicles/goods.
